NAWBO was founded 41 years ago at a time when business organizations generally were not open to women. The founders wanted women to have options and opportunities to succeed for themselves and for others. They achieved a great deal. They broke through barriers resulting in women getting their own business loans and being counted as business owners in government data. NAWBO also served as a nonpartisan advocate for all women business owners.
Today, it is our pleasure to carry on their nonpartisan legacy. NAWBO Buffalo-Niagara recognizes that our members benefit from the founders’ hard work in the same way that the work we do today will benefit future generations of women entrepreneurs. Now that the first woman has been nominated as a major party presidential candidate, another barrier has been broken and more opportunities for women emerge. We applaud candidates from both political parties running for public office who support small business and who are committed to enacting positive change for all women business owners.
