With 17 years of experience in the banking industry, including 15 years dedicated to small business. I bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the table. Armed with a degree in Political Science from the University at Buffalo, I have developed a keen understanding of the intricacies of the business world. My true passion lies in assisting small businesses in achieving their goals. Through my extensive background in banking and my commitment to supporting entrepreneurs, I strive to make a positive impact in the small business and local communities I serve.Please let me know if you need more information. Dr. Susan A. McCartney
Director of the SUNY Buffalo State Small Business Development Center, and the Special Advisor to the Provost for Economic Development.

Susan is a New York State certified business advisor. Susan supervises a team of award-winning business advisors. Additionally, she co-chairs the college’s sustainability task force. Her areas of expertise are strategic and human resource management.

Susan is active in several organizations including the Buffalo Sunrise Rotary Club, the Buffalo-Lille Association and the Friends of the Buffalo State Arboretum. Susan earned her Doctorate and Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from SUNY Buffalo. She also holds a BS degree in Biology from Syracuse University and a BA in Art History from SUNY Buffalo.

Susan has extensive experience in economic disaster work. During Covid 19 she served as a member of the Covid 19 Erie County Business Task Force – created to assist businesses during Covid 19. She was assigned to assist businesses in New York City after 9/11, and then again in 2012 following Storm Sand.

Susan is very proud of her family. Her daughter Anastasia lives and works in London, England. Her son Maxwell is an art director for a national home décor corporation. He resides in Brooklyn.
